This incredible trike was built from the leftovers of a Ford V6. There were no mufflers, only 6 spike-like pipes jutting straight from the engine. It’s roar was like a pack of hell-hounds. It charged back and forth, sometimes carrying passengers, sometimes simply a lone rider. I loved listening to it thunder across the playa.
What a beautiful machine this is.
The trike is so large that the driver needs to stand to steer.
p.s. Retha has a really cool panning shot of this trike being taken on a joyride by a drag queen -> Gentleturbulence.
Edit (7/08/2010): Apparently this trike was used in Neil Marshall’s film Doomsday. See the pics below. Looks identical.
Edit 18/11/2010: Found another one… looks like it was taken on the set of Doomsday.

Yours have that affectionate intimacy which mine don’t.
That’s why I prefer shooting with a short lens. My 50mm is all I need.

ek moet net bietjie blou in myne tweak (want dis lykmy die eerste kleur wat vanish as films expire) dan sal ek die link stuur – maar ek kan nie compete nie, julle foto’s is blixems mooi

The photo of the beautiful machine really underlines what Africa is about… that magnificent rugged quality we as South Africans seem to miss by habit.
I think its only us city dwellers with our Woolworths and 4x4s that miss anything. Rural South Africa gets it.
