This is the Ben Schoeman (N1) highway through Pretoria. It’s midwinter, and dusty. The sun is off to the right, and setting fast. I’m facing south on the King’s Highway bridge, and the Lynnwood Road offramp can be seen in the distance by the blue signboards. There are no cars!!!
Of course, this being the main highway connecting everything that’s north of Pretoria with everything that’s south you’d expect to see cars on it at all times, even late at night. True.
To get the image above I shot multiple exposures of the same scene until I had 100% of the surface area covered. I then layered them over each other in Photoshop and erased all the cars until all I had left was highway. Neat.Date: July 27, 2011
